POOR TEAM INDIA

20 04 2007

Ok so they didnt do that well. I dont know why people are giving them such a hard time. Its a game and winnning and losing is a part of it.

But one thing I really wonder about, that why do the Indian public treat the Indian Cricket team players as gods before the match? And if they loose, poor guys are cursed to hell.

They ae still humans guys …. common givem break

Heres a very funny video of entire journey of Indian cricket before during and after the world cup…

PERVERTED CAMERA MAN AT 2007 WORLD CUP

12 04 2007

Watching cricket doesnt get some people much of exitement. May be this generous cameraman felt the same and decided to spice things up a little. Watch the video and you’ll see why…..

As I always say…2007 World Cup seems to provide its exitement in all possible ways this year.

MALINGA….. 4 WICKETS IN 4 BALLS

30 03 2007

As if the high scoring matches, 6 sixers in an over, Ireland beating Pakistan, India scoring 413 in a match and of course the big one, Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer murdered, were not enough, the world cup this year seems to be providing a truck load of surprises for its viewers. Hat-trick was something we could expect, but for wickets in a row, well that was something unexpected. But during the last match between Sri-Lanka and South Africa we saw exactly that. Malinga, the Sri Lankan speedster took four wickets in four balls taking South Africa from confident position of 206 for 5 with 4 runs to win in 31 balls to a almost lost position of 206 for 9. However even with this, RSA did win the match ultimately by one wicket. But I missed this.. and I know many of you must have too. So here is a video for you to that will show you this once in a lifetime moment in cricketing history.

CRICKET CAN BE A FUNNY GAME

27 03 2007

With India out of the world cup at the first stage of matches, certainly we wont be seeing now much of India glued to the T.V. sets or crowd around an electronic goods shop with a bunch of T.V. sets displayed. Much of India is sad, just like me may be. So since nobody is closely watching the cup now, I decided to surf through my currently favourite site, Youtube.com to find something that would make me relive the gr8 moments of this world cup. Well, i did come accross this funny video which amused me quite a bit. Although not a World Cup video, this one is certainly funny cricket video. May just make you watch the reat of the World Cup for the spirit of the game, if not for India.

Breaking Newz…BOB WOOLMER MURDERD

23 03 2007

So i get up today and during breakfast the one thing i hear a lot is that “Bob Woolmer was MURDERED”. Well it seems the Jamaican Police has confirmed that Bob Woolmer was murderd and didntd die of natural causes. So much for world cup being boring. With a fair amount of predictable matches and a crowd less than what is seen for Inter State Football matches in India, the world cup was certainly getting a sort of a bore. But now it does seem to be contributing towards its share of thrills of 2007. People leaving early for work would have certainly missed this story, so I decided to do a small social service.

So all speculations are true than. One guy even commented on a earlier post on this blog regarding Bob Woolmer, quoting that “I suspect foul play..he simply wont die, someone myt have instigated”. Someone did indeed. Police are confident that culprit will be caught soon. Right now some senior members of Pakistan team including Inzamam and others are under the microscope…. Well to tell You More i took the liberty of providin you with access to some accurate reports

NEW DELHI: Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer, found dead a day after Pakistan’s shock defeat at the hands of Ireland, was murdered, police have confirmed. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board has been claiming that the autopsy conducted on Woolmer was inconclusive, sources, according to Times Now, have confirmed that investigators have indeed said the coach was murdered.

In fact, the Jamaican Police is said to be already ascertaining the whereabouts of some of the Pakistan players at the time the murder could have taken place. Sources confirmed to Times Now that further questioning of Pakistan players is on the cards as well.

The confirmation comes soon after allegations by former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz that Woolmer was murdered by the betting syndicate. The outspoken Nawaz has said that almost everybody in control of the game is involved in betting and Woolmer was perhaps about to reveal all in a book.

The Jamaican Police have confirmed that Pakistani cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered.

In a statement read out at a press conference in Kingston, the Jamaican police said that a second post-mortem report has confirmed that Woolmer died of asphyxiation or being unable to breathe after manual strangulation.

His death is now the subject of a murder investigation.

Police officials have appealed to anyone with information to come forward. In this regard, two hotlines have been set up.

Since Woolmer’s death, security has also been increased.

According to the police, it would have taken effort to strangle a large man like Woolmer. So they believe there is a possibility of there being more than one person in the room.

However, the police said it was too early to say why Woolmer was murdered.

Probe on

As the authorities get on a more rigourous and faster course of investigation into Woolmer’s murder, nothing is being ruled out.

The possible lines of probe range from Woolmer’s autobiography to a murder by someone whom he knew very closely.

The manuscript of the autobiography Bob Woolmer had been working on, which was in final stages of completion, is missing. Reports suggest that the manuscript was with Woolmer, which he kept with him in his hotel room.

Woolmer’s book allegedly contained details on match-fixing scandals and names of bookies – a possible motive for the killer.

However, Tim Noakes, the sports scientist who was co-authoring the book with him, has said in a newspaper report that there was nothing incriminating in the manuscripts and nothing linked with match fixing.

Under suspicion

Pegasus Hotel, where the Pakistani cricket team and Woolmer were staying, needs punch-in cards to access rooms, suggesting that someone known to the team and the coach could have accessed the room.

The Pakistani team and Woolmer were staying on the same floor and reports suggest that the assailant could also be staying on the same floor as Woolmer’s.

Meanwhile, NDTV spoke to Pakistan team member Danish Kaneria, who was staying in the room next to Woolmer in the Pegasus Hotel.

He’s the only Pakistani player to speak to the media on the murder.

“I did not hear any noises coming out of Woolmer’s room,” he said.

The question that is puzzling investigators is how Danish Kaneria did not hear anything even as Woolmer was perhaps involved in a struggle of some sort.

According to reports, Paul Condon, who is with ICC’s corruption unit, will assist in the probe.

Here is the only video i could find..

I could only find videos of Geo Newz, Pakistan on this… Looks like they are heads over heels on this… A new speculation then… Are they covering the mess made by their own players with over concerned reports…. who knows..

BOB WOOLMER DEAD

18 03 2007

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer died in a Jamaica hospital after he was found lying unconscious in his hotel room.

Pakistan team spokesman Parvez Mir told Pakistan television channels that Woolmer “had expired”.

Pakistan were knocked out of the World Cup on Saturday after a shock three-wicket defeat to Ireland. They had earlier lost to the West Indies in the opening encounter of the World Cup on March 13.

Woolmer played 19 Test matches for England, and had scored a century on debut.

Sky Sports reported that Woolmer, 58, was found lying 1045 hrs local time (1545GMT) on the floor of his hotel room unconscious and with signs of vomiting.

An ambulance took the 58-year-old to the Kingston University Hospital.

Woolmer, who took charge of the Pakistan team in 2004, was seen late Saturday night, but officials raised the alarm after not seeing him early on Sunday.

When they went to his hotel room, they saw he was unconscious.

Pakistan team manager Talat Ali, their South African based trainer Murray Stevenson and assistant manager Asad Mustafa went with Woolmer to the hospital where he was given medical attention.

Woolmer was last seen in public when he addressed the post-match media conference after his team’s defeat to Ireland at Sabina Park.

He indicated his side’s performance ranked pretty highly as one of the worse days of his life as a coach.

Former South Africa speedster Allan Donald, in a conversation with CNN-IBN, said the news came as a shock to him. “He was the person behind my success,” Donald said.

Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis also remembered the Englishman deeming him a great ambassador of the game and had given a lot to Pakistan cricket.

Here are few glimpses of an ad starring Shoaib Akhtar and Bob Woolmer

HERSCHELLE GIBBS SIX SIXERS

17 03 2007

I cannot believe that i missed this. An event like this comes too rarely in cricketing history. The only thing i can think of topping this is South Africa chasing the 400+ total against the Aussies and winning the ODI. Well its South Africa to the hitting the spotlight again, this time the man who once dropped the world cup just does the nearly impossible. I mean , ok ya… its against Holland , but still who has done this before. Herschelle Gibbs this time goes for six sixers in an over breaking the record of maximum runs in an over. For those of you who missed this… heres a peek

WEST INDIES v/s PAKISTAN

15 03 2007

If performing awfully in the group matches is a pre-requisite for becoming the world champions for Pakistan, then they have followed the plan fantastically. In the inaugural match of ninth world cup on 13th March, 2007 — their dismissals, their fielding, their batting and overall approach to the game; everything was reeking of shallowness.

One of the most unprofessional bitter feature of Pakistan team is its un-ability to chase down the target. They have rarely been able to follow any decent or near-decent score soundly. From the outset, three bad things happened badly for them. First the inclusion of Rana Naveed, then election to bowl after winning the toss and thirdly Inzamam speaking “immaculately” in English in the front of whole world.

The dismal plight of Pakistani bowling is crystal clear from the fact that the bowlers who have always remained in the back benches due to missing sting in their bowling are now our strike bowlers. The opening match showed it all. Even the relatively weak West Indian team, despite of losing early wickets due to their own mistakes, managed to reach a target which bitten Pakistan in the head. Fielding from the Pakistani side was as embarrassing as anything could be. Catch dropped by the HBL man Younis Khan, Kaneria’s throws and legendry fumbles and the jiggery-pockery by the rest. Umer Gul and Rao Iftikhar showed some semblance of line and length on a competitive pitch.

After losing a perhaps good toss, Windies suffered an early blow when Chris Gayle continued his abysmal form and got caught by Kamran Akmal. This was his seventh less than 10 score in his last nine innings. He has only scored 122, at an average of 13.56. Shivnarine Chanderpaul crawled to 19 after facing 63 balls. He played one of his slowest innings and lived precariously for some time out there. His misery ended when he dismissed and Marlon Samuels, the star of this game appeared on the horizon with a new zeal and zest. His was a master blaster innings. He made a stunning 63 in no time and changed the complexion of the game permanently. Pakistan had had their hopes revived, when the skipper Brian Lara got ousted cheaply, but the world cup debutants Dwayne Smith hammered a vital 32 and Dwayne Bravo also contributed some valuable runs. The Pakistani bowling was bleating in the final overs and gave away 57 runs on the last 30 balls.

Pakistani batting started with a basher 6 from Imran Nazir and then his ignominious dismissal. Every thing about batting was wrong. The opening, the middle order, the late order and the rest. I mean, this is world cup, the greatest even of all time in cricket, so one should use some sort of brains. Younis Khan hooked again and sucked again. Hafeez after hitting some nicely-touched strokes managed to keep his average under 20 runs. When Smith dusted off Inzamam and Yousaf, the game was virtually over. Shoaib Malik did some batting practice as usual and that was it.

West Indies won by 54 run, the inaugural match of the world cup in a promising way.

Here are some highlights…..

And for all those Indians who love to watch Pakistan fall…
